Ever stumbled upon a picture and wondered where it originated or wanted to know more about it? Google’s Image Search is the solution for you. This useful tool allows you to search images using other images instead of text. This feature is known as reverse image search. Today, we’re going to guide you on how to search a picture on Google.
Step 1: Access Google Images
The first thing you have to do is get to the Google Images website. You can do this by typing www.google.com/imghp into your web browser and hitting enter. Alternatively, you can go to Google’s main page, and click on ‘Images’ at the top right corner of the screen.
Step 2: Click on the Camera Icon
On the Google Images search bar, you will see a camera icon on the right side. This is the button you need to click on to search using an image. It will prompt a small window with two tabs – “Paste image URL” and “Upload an image”.
Step 3: Paste the Image URL or Upload an Image
You now have two options to proceed:
- Paste the Image URL: If you found the image online and want to search for similar ones or find its source, right-click on it and select ‘Copy Image Address’ or ‘Copy Image URL’. Then paste it into the ‘Paste image URL’ tab.
Right-click on the image > Copy Image URL > Paste in the 'Paste image URL' tab.
Click 'Choose file' > Navigate to the file location > Select the image file.
Step 4: Analyze the Results
Once you’ve uploaded the image or pasted its URL, Google will display the results. These will include similar images, different sizes of the same image, and websites that include the image. You can click on the tabs at the top to filter the results.
