How To Set Up Breakout Rooms In Zoom

Using breakout rooms during a Zoom meeting is an effective method for encouraging small group conversations and cooperative tasks. This guide will walk you through the steps of setting up breakout rooms in Zoom.

Step 1: Start a Meeting

To set up breakout rooms, you need to start a Zoom meeting first. Once you have started the meeting, you will see the option to create breakout rooms on your screen.

Step 2: Create Breakout Rooms

Click on the “Breakout Rooms” button and select the number of breakout rooms you want to create. You can also choose to assign participants manually or automatically. If you choose to assign participants manually, you will need to drag and drop them into each room.

Step 3: Assign Participants

Once you have created the breakout rooms, you can assign participants to each room. You can either do this manually by dragging and dropping participants into each room or automatically by letting Zoom assign them randomly.

Step 4: Start Breakout Rooms

After assigning participants to the breakout rooms, you can start the breakout sessions. Click on the “Start Breakout” button and wait for the participants to join their respective rooms.

Step 5: Monitor Breakout Sessions

While the breakout sessions are ongoing, you can monitor them by clicking on the “Breakout Rooms” button and selecting “Room Management.” This will allow you to see which participants are in each room and what they are doing.

Step 6: End Breakout Sessions

When it’s time to end the breakout sessions, click on the “Breakout Rooms” button and select “End All Rooms.” This will bring all participants back to the main meeting room.

Setting up breakout rooms in Zoom is a simple process that can enhance collaboration and engagement during your meetings. By following these steps, you can create breakout rooms, assign participants, monitor sessions, and end the breakout sessions with ease.
