How To Make Jira Dashboard Public

During a collaboration project, it is crucial to have open communication and easy access to information. To facilitate this, Jira offers a shared dashboard feature that ensures all team members are informed. In this tutorial, we will demonstrate how to make your Jira dashboard viewable to the public. With this option, anyone, even those without a Jira account, can view the dashboard without the need to log into the system. Steps to Make Jira Dashboard Public

Before we start, remember that making your dashboard public will make it visible to anyone with the link, including those outside of your organization. Be sure the information displayed on your dashboard can be shared publicly.

  1. Firstly, please login to your Jira account.
  2. Next, navigate to your dashboard by clicking on the ‘Dashboards’ in the menu bar.
  3. Select the dashboard you want to share by clicking on ‘View All Dashboards’ and choosing the appropriate dashboard.
  4. Once on your dashboard, click on the ‘…’ (more options) button usually located at the top right of the dashboard and select ‘Share dashboard’.
  5. Now, select the ‘Public’ option under the ‘Share with’ options. Once done, click the ‘Share’ button to make your dashboard public.

Considerations and Permissions

Keep in mind that in order to share a dashboard, you must have the ‘Create Shared Objects’ global permission in Jira. Also note that any filters used in the dashboard must be shared with the public as well otherwise the gadgets using those filters won’t show any data.

Sharing your Jira dashboard can be a great way to increase transparency within your team or with stakeholders. It provides a quick overview of the project status without requiring a Jira login. Just remember to consider the security of the information you’re sharing before making your dashboard public.
