How To Dry Canvas Shoes After Washing

Washing canvas shoes can effectively restore them to their original appearance. However, if they are not dried properly, their shape and color may be compromised. Follow these steps to ensure the proper drying of your canvas shoes.

Step 1: Absorb Excess Water

The first step is to remove as much water as possible right after washing them. To do this, you can use a towel to absorb the water. Dry the outside and as much of the inside as you can reach.

Step 2: Stuff with Newspaper

Newspaper has excellent absorbing properties. Stuff the shoes with it to help draw out the moisture from the inside. Replace the newspaper when it becomes damp. Continue until most of the moisture is absorbed.

Step 3: Air Dry

The best way to dry canvas shoes is to air dry them. Place them in an open space with plenty of ventilation. However, avoid direct sunlight as it can fade the color of your shoes over time.

Step 4: Use a Fan

If you need to speed up the process, you can place a fan near the shoes. Don’t point it directly at them, but make sure there’s good airflow around them. The moving air will help evaporate the moisture faster.

Note:

Never use a direct heat source such as a hair dryer or heater to dry your canvas shoes. They can cause the shoes to shrink and the soles to crack, ruining your shoes.

Following these steps will help extend the life of your canvas shoes and keep them looking fresh and clean. Happy shoe care!
