How To Cartoon Yourself In Photoshop

Lots of people enjoy the charming and vibrant realm of cartoons. Wouldn’t it be entertaining to envision ourselves transformed into a cartoon? Thankfully, using Adobe Photoshop, we can! This article will walk you through the necessary steps to transform yourself into a cartoon using Photoshop.

Step 1: Choose Your Photo

The first step in this process is choosing the right photo. Make sure your photo is high resolution and has great lighting for best results.

Step 2: Open the Photo in Photoshop

Open Adobe Photoshop and click on File -> Open to select your photo. You should now see your image in the Photoshop workspace.

Step 3: Duplicate the Background Layer

Next, you have to duplicate the background layer. You can do this by right-clicking on the Background in the Layers panel and choosing Duplicate Layer.

Step 4: Apply the Poster Edges Effect

With the duplicate layer selected, go to Filter -> Filter Gallery. In the Artistic folder, select Poster Edges. This will give your photo the outline it needs to start looking like a cartoon.

Step 5: Adjust the Poster Edges Effect

In the Poster Edges settings, adjust the Edge Thickness, Edge Intensity, and Posterization until you like what you see. Click OK to apply the effect.

Step 6: Apply the Cutout Effect

Next, go back to Filter -> Filter Gallery and this time, choose Cutout from the Artistic folder. This will give you the flat, color-blocked look typical of cartoons.

Step 7: Adjust the Cutout Effect

Adjust the Number of Levels, Edge Simplicity, and Edge Fidelity to your liking, then click OK to apply the effect.

Step 8: Save Your Cartoon Image

Now that you’re happy with your cartoon image, save it by clicking on File -> Save As. Choose the format you want and click Save.

Voila! Now you have a cartoon version of yourself. Feel free to experiment with different settings in the Poster Edges and Cutout effects to get the cartoon style you want. Happy Photoshopping!
