If you have a website on Squarespace, then surely, you want to monitor its performance. One of the best tools to use for this purpose is Google Analytics. This guide will walk you through the steps to add Google Analytics to your Squarespace site.

Step 1: Create or Sign in to your Google Analytics account

Head to the Google Analytics page and either sign in with your existing Google account or sign up for a new one.

Step 2: Set up a new property for your Squarespace site

In the Google Analytics dashboard, click on the Admin icon. Click on + Create Property and fill in your website details.

Step 3: Get your Google Analytics Tracking ID

Once you’ve set up a property for your website, you’ll be provided with a Tracking ID. This unique identifier, which starts with ‘UA-‘, allows Google Analytics to connect with your Squarespace site.

Step 4: Add the Tracking ID to your Squarespace site

On your Squarespace site, go to Settings > Advanced > External API Keys. Here, you’ll find a field labeled Google Analytics Account Number. Paste your Tracking ID into this field and click Save.

You’ve now successfully linked Google Analytics to your Squarespace site. It might take a while before data starts appearing in your Google Analytics dashboard, so don’t worry if you don’t see anything immediately.

By linking Google Analytics to your Squarespace website, you can access an array of data that will provide insights into your website’s performance. This will help you understand your audience better and make informed decisions about your site’s content and design. Happy analyzing!
