Introduction
The clipboard is an essential feature of every operating system, making it easy to copy and paste text, images and other content between different applications. While it is very useful, the traditional clipboard can only store one item at a time. Thankfully, Windows 10 introduced a new clipboard history feature, allowing you to keep track of multiple items for easy access. In this blog post, we will guide you through the steps to enable and view clipboard history in Windows 10.
Enabling Clipboard History
Before you can view clipboard history, you’ll need to enable the feature. Follow these steps to enable Clipboard History in Windows 10:
- Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
- Click on System.
- On the left sidebar, click on Clipboard.
- Under the “Clipboard history” section, toggle the switch to On.
Your clipboard history is now enabled, and you can start using it to keep track of multiple items.
Viewing Clipboard History
To view your clipboard history, follow these simple steps:
- Press the Windows key + V on your keyboard. This will open the clipboard history panel.
- The panel displays your clipboard history, with the most recent item at the top. You can now scroll through the list and select the item you want to paste.
Keep in mind that the clipboard history only stores a maximum of 25 items, and it will remove the oldest item once the limit is reached. Also, the clipboard history is not saved between restarts or shutdowns. If you need to save an item permanently, you can use the “Pin” feature in the clipboard history panel.
Clearing Clipboard History
If you want to clear your clipboard history, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app by pressing Windows key + I.
- Click on System.
- On the left sidebar, click on Clipboard.
- Under the “Clear clipboard data” section, click on the Clear button.
This will remove all items from your clipboard history, except for the ones you have pinned.
