How To Record Figma Prototype

Whether you’re a designer seeking to showcase your work or a team member looking to demonstrate a project, recording a Figma prototype can be an effective way to visually communicate your design process. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the steps you need to take to record your Figma prototype.

1. Setting up Your Figma Prototype

Before you can record your prototype, it’s important to ensure it’s set up correctly. Navigate to the “Prototype” tab in the right-hand side panel of the Figma interface. Here, you’ll be able to link different frames of your design and specify interaction details.

2. Open the Prototype

To open your prototype, click on the “Present” button located on the top-right corner of the interface. This will open your prototype in a new window. Make sure the prototype is in the final form that you want to record.

3. Prepare for Recording

There are several tools you can use to record your screen. Some popular options include QuickTime Player (on Mac), Windows Game Bar (on Windows), or OBS Studio (for both). For the purpose of this guide, we will use QuickTime Player as an example.

4. Start Recording

On QuickTime Player, navigate to “File” and then “New Screen Recording”. A recording window will appear. Before you hit record, ensure that your microphone is on if you want to include voiceover in your video. When you’re ready, click on the “Record” button and then click on the window with your Figma prototype. QuickTime will start recording all the actions in that window.

5. Navigate Through Your Prototype

Now that you’re recording, navigate through your Figma prototype as needed. Remember to do this slowly and clearly to make sure that viewers can follow along.

6. Stop and Save the Recording

Once you’ve finished demonstrating your prototype, you can stop the recording by clicking on the “Stop” button in the QuickTime Player menu bar. After stopping, you can save your video to your preferred location.

7. Share Your Video

Now you have a video of your Figma prototype. You can share this with your team, stakeholders, or use it in your portfolio. This is a great way to visually explain your design process, showcase your work, or provide clear instructions for others.

And that’s it! With these simple steps, you can easily record your Figma prototype and share your designs with the world. Happy prototyping!
