Photoshop is an extremely versatile tool when it comes to editing and creating images. One of the many things you can do with this software is creating passport size photos. Here’s a step by step guide to help you make passport size photos using Adobe Photoshop.
Step 1: Open your Image on Photoshop
First things first, open the image you want to make into passport size on Adobe Photoshop. To do this, go to File and then select Open, browse to find your image, select it, and click on Open.
Step 2: Create a New Document
Create a new document by clicking on File > New. Set the width and height to 2×2 inches (for U.S passport size), resolution to 300 pixels/inch, and background contents to White. Click on Create.
Step 3: Crop the Image
Select the Crop tool from the toolbar, and then set the Width, Height, and Resolution at the top menu. The standard passport photo size for a lot of countries is 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, which translates to about 1.38 inches x 1.77 inches. Set the resolution to 300 pixels/inch.
Step 4: Paste the Image to the New Document
After cropping the image, with the cropped picture selected, press Ctrl+C to copy the picture. Then switch to the new document we created earlier and press Ctrl+V to paste the image.
Step 5: Duplicate the Image
If you need more than one copy of your passport photo, you can duplicate the layer by right-clicking on the layer in the Layers panel and selecting ‘Duplicate Layer’. Then use the Move tool to position the copied image next to the original.
Step 6: Print the Image
Finally, you can now print your passport-sized photo. Go to File > Print, adjust your print settings to your liking, and then click on Print.
Open Photoshop -> Open Image -> Create New Document (2x2 inches, 300 ppi, White Background) -> Crop Image (1.38x1.77 inches, 300 ppi) -> Copy Cropped Image -> Paste to New Document -> Duplicate Layer (if needed) -> Position Image -> Print
And Voila! You’ve got your passport-sized photos ready to print and use. Adobe Photoshop is a powerful tool that, when used correctly, provides a wide array of options. Although this guide is outlined for creating passport-sized photos, the steps can be generally applied to create pictures of any dimensions to suit your specific needs.
