How To Make Google Slides Dark Mode

Google Slides is an incredibly handy tool for creating presentations, but it doesn’t inherently have a dark mode option. However, fear not, as there are still ways to achieve this, which we will be discussing in this blog post.

Whilst dark mode is not directly available in Google Slides, you can overcome this by using extensions on your web browser. This blog is going to focus on the Google Chrome browser and the use of an extension called ‘Dark Reader‘.

Step 1: Install the Dark Reader Extension

First and foremost, you need to install the Dark Reader extension in your Google Chrome browser. This extension will enable you to turn any webpage into dark mode, including Google Slides.

Here is how you can install it:

  1. Open your Google Chrome browser.
  2. Go to the Chrome Web Store.
  3. Search for ‘Dark Reader‘.
  4. Click on the ‘Add to Chrome‘ button to install it.

Step 2: Configure Dark Reader

Now that you have installed the Dark Reader extension, you need to configure it to work with Google Slides. Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Dark Reader icon on your browser’s toolbar.
  2. Toggle the ‘On/Off‘ button to turn on Dark Mode.
  3. Click on the ‘Only for …‘ button and type in ‘‘ and hit the ‘+‘ button. This will limit the effect of Dark Reader only to Google Slides.

Now, you have successfully added the dark mode to Google Slides.

Please note that Dark Reader may affect the colors of your slides. To mitigate this, use the ‘Filter‘ option located in the Dark Reader settings. Adjust ‘Brightness‘, ‘Contrast‘, ‘Sepia‘, and ‘Grayscale‘ until you get your desired color effects.

Even though Google Slides doesn’t have a built-in dark mode, with the help of browser extensions like Dark Reader, you can easily achieve this. Not only will this make your working environment easier on the eyes, but it also gives your Google Slides a sleek, modern look that is enjoyable to work with.

Remember, while this guide is specific to Google Chrome, similar extensions may be available for other browsers as well.
