Are you looking to create a website or blog but not sure where to start? In this guide, we will walk you through the process of launching a free WordPress site. WordPress is a popular content management system (CMS) that allows you to create, manage and customize your website with ease.
Step 1: Sign Up for a Free WordPress.com Account
To get started, you need to sign up for a free account on WordPress.com. Navigate to the website and click on the Get Started button to begin the signup process. Enter your email address, choose a username and password, then click Continue.
Step 2: Choose a Site Type
Next, choose what kind of site you want to create. Options include a blog, business site, professional portfolio, or online store. For this guide, we will choose Blog.
Step 3: Select a Theme
Now, you will be asked to select a theme for your site. There are hundreds of free themes available, so browse through the options and choose one that suits your needs. You can change the theme later if you want to, so don’t worry too much about finding the perfect one now.
Step 4: Choose a Domain
Next, you need to choose a domain name for your site. This is the web address people will use to find your site (e.g., example.wordpress.com). Type in a keyword, and WordPress.com will generate a list of available domain names. Choose the free option that includes wordpress.com in the address. You can upgrade to a custom domain later if you want to remove the “wordpress.com” branding.
Step 5: Pick a Plan
WordPress.com offers several plans with different features, but for this guide, we will go with the free option. Select the Free plan to continue.
Step 6: Customize Your Site
