Colors are crucial in design. They can set the mood, evoke certain emotions, and represent your brand’s identity. If you’re using Canva for your design needs, you’ll certainly appreciate their built-in color palette generator. In this blog post, I’m going to share a step-by-step guide on how to create a color palette in Canva.

Step 1: Open Canva

Start by navigating to the Canva website. If you haven’t done so already, create an account or log in to your existing Canva account.

Step 2: Select a Template

Once you’re in, select a design template that fits your needs. This could be a social media post, a presentation, or a custom size of your choice.

Step 3: Open the Color Palette Generator

On the left-hand panel, click on the color tile under the ‘Elements’ tab. This will open up the color palette generator.

Step 4: Create Your Custom Color Palette

Once you’ve opened the color palette generator, you can start creating your custom color palette. You can manually input color codes or you can choose from the existing color options available. To manually input a color, click on the ‘+ New color’ button, then input the desired color code.

Step 5: Save Your Color Palette

After creating your color palette, don’t forget to save it! Click on the ‘Done’ button at the bottom. Your new color palette will now be available under the ‘My colors’ section.

Quick Tips:

  • When creating a color palette, try to keep it to 2-3 main colors and 1-2 accent colors. This can help maintain a cohesive look throughout your design.
  • Use color theory to guide your color choices. Each color can evoke certain emotions or represent specific things, so choose your colors carefully.
  • Consistency is key. Try to use the same color palette across all your designs to maintain your brand identity.
