How To Assign Zoom Breakout Rooms

Splitting your larger meeting or webinar audience into smaller groups for discussion and collaborative work can greatly enhance engagement. This guide will walk you through how to allocate attendees to breakout rooms in Zoom.

Step 1: Start a Meeting

To begin with, start a Zoom meeting as the host. Once the meeting is underway, click on the “Breakout Rooms” button located in the toolbar at the bottom of your screen.

Step 2: Create Breakout Rooms

After clicking on the “Breakout Rooms” button, you will be presented with a pop-up window. Here, you can create as many breakout rooms as needed for your meeting or webinar. You can also customize the number of participants per room and assign specific individuals to each room.

Step 3: Assign Participants

Once you have created your desired number of breakout rooms, it’s time to assign participants to them. You can either manually select participants from the drop-down menu or let Zoom automatically assign participants based on their names or other criteria.

Step 4: Start Breakout Rooms

After assigning participants to breakout rooms, click on the “Start Breakout Rooms” button. This will send all participants to their respective rooms and begin the small group discussions or activities.

Assigning Zoom breakout rooms is a simple yet effective way to enhance engagement and collaboration in your meetings or webinars. By following these steps, you can create an interactive experience for all participants involved.
