How To Archive A Folder In Gmail

If you are struggling to keep up with the overwhelming amount of emails in your Gmail inbox, archiving could be the ideal solution. In this post, we will guide you through the simple process of archiving a folder in Gmail, a useful feature for keeping your inbox tidy and organized without permanently getting rid of any emails.

What is Archiving?

Archiving is a Gmail functionality that allows you to remove messages from your inbox without deleting them. Instead, these emails are moved to the ‘All Mail’ folder where they are kept safely, accessible for later references.

Follow these steps to archive a folder in Gmail:

Step 1: Login to your Gmail Account

Firstly, sign in to your Gmail account using your credentials. Once you’re logged in, you’ll be directed to your Inbox.

Step 2: Select the Folder You Want to Archive

On the left side of your screen, you’ll see a list of different folders like Inbox, Sent Mail, Drafts, etc. Click on the folder that you want to archive. The emails within this folder will now appear on your screen.

Step 3: Select the Emails to Archive

Now, select the emails that you want to archive from your chosen folder. To do this, click on the checkboxes next to each email. If you want to archive all the emails from the folder, click on the checkbox in the taskbar above.

Step 4: Archive the Emails

After selecting the emails, click on the Archive button represented by a box with a down arrow. This button is located in the taskbar above your emails.

Note: Archiving an email doesn’t delete it from your Gmail account. It simply moves the email from your Inbox (or chosen folder) to the ‘All Mail’ folder.

How to View Archived Emails?

If you want to view or retrieve your archived emails, go to the ‘All Mail’ folder on the left side of the screen. Here, you’ll find all your archived messages along with the rest of your emails.

So, that’s how simple it is to archive a folder in Gmail. Following these steps will help you keep your inbox tidy and organized, making it easier to manage and locate important emails. Happy emailing!
