How To Add Participants To Breakout Rooms In Zoom

Zoom’s breakout room feature is an excellent tool for dividing your meeting into smaller subgroups for detailed discussions. Nevertheless, the task of assigning participants to these breakout rooms might seem somewhat challenging without prior knowledge of how it’s done. Within this article, we aim to guide you through the process of adding attendees to breakout rooms in Zoom.

Step 1: Start a Meeting

To add participants to breakout rooms, you first need to start a meeting. Once you’ve started the meeting, click on the “Breakout Rooms” button in the toolbar at the bottom of your screen.

Step 2: Create Breakout Rooms

After clicking on the “Breakout Rooms” button, you’ll see a pop-up window where you can create breakout rooms. You can choose to create up to 50 breakout rooms and assign participants manually or automatically.

Step 3: Assign Participants

Once you’ve created your breakout rooms, you can assign participants to each room. To do this, click on the “Assign” button in the pop-up window and select the participants you want to add to each room. You can also choose to have Zoom automatically assign participants to rooms based on their name or other criteria.

Step 4: Start Breakout Rooms

After assigning participants to breakout rooms, click on the “Start” button in the pop-up window to start the breakout sessions. Participants will be automatically moved into their assigned rooms and can begin their discussions.

Step 5: Monitor Breakout Rooms

While participants are in their breakout rooms, you can monitor their progress by clicking on the “Breakout Rooms” button again. This will show you a list of all the breakout rooms and who is currently in each one.

Step 6: End Breakout Sessions

When it’s time to end the breakout sessions, click on the “End” button in the pop-up window. Participants will be automatically moved back into the main meeting room and can continue their discussions.
