How To Add Icons In Figma

Figma is an advanced digital design tool that is widely used by UI/UX designers. It has numerous features that make it a favorite among designers, one of which is the ability to use and add icons. Icons are essential elements in most designs and Figma makes it very convenient to add them to your projects. In this blog post, we will guide you through the steps on how to add icons in Figma.

Step 1: Download your Icons

Before you add any icons to Figma, you must first have them downloaded to your device. There are multiple websites where you can download free icons such as Flaticon and Icons8. Be sure you download the icons in SVG format as this works best with Figma.

Step 2: Open your Figma File

Open your Figma workspace and navigate to the file where you want to add the icons. You can either create a new file or open an existing one.

Step 3: Import the Icons

Once you’re inside your Figma workspace and the file is open, navigate to the toolbar at the top and select “File”, then “Import…”

In the dialog box that pops up, navigate to where your icons are saved and select them. Click “Open”, and your icons will be added to your Figma file.

Step 4: Use the icons

Now that your icons have been added to your Figma file, you can click and drag them into your frames and layers. You can also adjust their size, color, and orientation the same way you would with any other design element in Figma.

Icons are a vital part of most digital design projects and knowing how to add them in Figma can make your workflow much smoother and efficient. Remember to always use icons that match the style and purpose of your design to create a cohesive look and feel. Happy designing!
