Canva, a user-friendly graphic design tool, allows you to create professional designs in minutes. One of the features that make Canva stand out is its ability to add borders to your images. A professional border can elevate a simple image into a piece of art. Today, we will discuss the steps to add borders in Canva.
Step 1: Open Canva
Go to www.canva.com. If you have not created an account, sign up first. It’s free and only takes a minute. If you have an account, log in to access your dashboard. Choose the design format you want to work on or create a custom dimension as per your requirements.
Step 2: Add an Image
Once you’ve chosen the design format, click on the ‘Elements’ tab on the left side of your workspace, then ‘Grids’. Choose the desired grid according to your image size. Drag and drop your image into the grid.
Step 3: Adding a Border
Click on the ‘Elements’ tab again. Scroll down until you find ‘Frames’. You will notice a wide variety of frames that you can use as borders. Select the one that suits your image and design best. Click or drag it onto your canvas.
Alternatively, you can add a border to your image using lines and shapes. Click on the ‘Elements’ tab, then ‘Lines and Shapes’. Choose a square or a rectangle shape. Resize it to fit your image. You can adjust the color and thickness of the shape’s border to make it look like a border for your image.
To adjust the thickness, click on the shape. A toolbar will appear at the top of the page. Look for the ‘Size’ option. Click on it and a slider will appear. Slide it to adjust the thickness of the shape’s border. To change the color, click on the colored square on the toolbar. A color palette will appear. Choose the color you prefer for your border.
Step 4: Adjust Border Size and Position
Once you have your border, you can adjust its size and position. Simply click on the border and drag the corners to adjust its size. To reposition, click on the border and drag it to where you want it to be.
Step 5: Save Your Design
Once you’re satisfied with the border, click on the ‘Download’ button at the top right corner of the page. Choose the format you prefer and click on the ‘Download’ button again to save your design.
