Site Downtime

Posted in Site News and Updates by John Ward on the September 17th, 2009

As some of you may have noticed the site has been unavailable over the last few days. We are in the process of upgrading to a new server (with 2 quad core Xeon processors and 8gb RAM) and things have not gone as smooth as planned. We will get all the issue straightened out and try to push the new server to it’s limits. If you are wondering why we haven’t posted in the last two month’s we have both been busy with work and side projects. We hope to post some new tutorials soon.

Things never seem to go smoothly in the land of technology. Good luck with things.

My current web host takes 24-48 to republish my site after I make a change. During this time period the site is not accessible. Is this average? It seems unreasonably long.

That’s ridiculous. You should be able to make changes on your website and have them show up immediately, with no downtime at all. If your web host can’t do any better than they’re doing now, then it’s time to start shopping around for a new host.

I like to be original so let me know what kind of site you think the internet is currently missing or what kind of site you’d like to see done better.

I never heard of a webhost where it takes time for changes to take effect.I would suggest you to find another web host.

Never heard of a downtime site until today, when one of the players told me, tried to find it myself. Did you hear about what happened?

A site breaking down the federal budget in laymens terms with a blog feed that updates us on new earmarks on other misapropriations, along with new taxes or tax cuts and who benefits or is hurt by them. I would be on that site every day but then again I’m a nutcase.

Yea a new web host would probably be a better idea for now, and in the long run.
